Jurgen Klopp praises Dejan Lovren's World Cup exploits

Lovren's part in Croatia's most famous World Cup run comes two years after he found himself frozen out of the national team set-up, following a disagreement with then-coach Ante Cacic.

Lovren continued the excellent form he displayed in the second half of Liverpool's season by repelling England and crushing their dreams of a first appearance in the final since 1966.

Speaking to BeIN SPORTS, he said: "I heard people saying I had a hard season but I don't agree with that. I think people should recognise that I'm one of the best defenders in the world".

Lovren claimed he was one of the best defenders on the planet on Wednesday after Croatia's win over England in the semifinals of the World Cup.

Lovren told CNN that they are a small country, only four million people and have big talent in their squad.

The Croatia global will be hoping to emerge victorious against France in the final, and the way he helped shut Kane down will give him confidence. People will never forget us. Before this game they said we are exhausted but we showed in extra-time we had fresher legs than them. We beat our record of 20 years ago and we had it on our shoulders all the time, this weight.
