New BlackBerry phone aims to revive faded brand

The new Key2 will cost £579 and for that users get a device running the latest version of Android, as well as a 4.5-inch touchscreen and a keyboard BlackBerry says is "intelligent". As for the keyboard, The Blackberry Key2 will feature a touch-enabled 35 key backlit QWERTY physical keyboard that features an integrated fingerprint sensor.

BlackBerry Key2 is official, and this device continues to feature its USP of a physical keyboard, which makes the the phones stand-out from other Android devices in market.

KEY2 is also touted to be the most secure Android smartphone with enhanced security and privacy features built-in as private browse (Firefox Focus), which lets you browse the internet with no tracking, and no history recording.

The company relies on US -made components for many of its products, and also sells many of those products to USA customers. Its global smartphone market share is about 11 percent, and its total revenue was about $92 billion in 2017.

The newer BlackBerry Key2 has the following dimensions 151.4mm x 71.8mm x 8.5mm with a weight of 168 grams. There's a dual tone LED flash and support for 4K video recording.

TCL also sells low-end phones in the United States under the French brand Alcatel, which are mainly used with prepaid carriers. Assign an app to a shortcut key on the keyboard and press the Speed Key along with the assigned key to instantly open the assigned app. The fingerprint scanner remains in the space bar, a brilliant location for it.

Battery: The BlackBerry KEY2 is backed by a 3,500mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0 over USB Type-C. Those rumours turned out to be true when on Thursday, TCL Communications (the firm that manufactures BlackBerry devices) announced that the BlackBerry KEY2 would begin shipping "globally beginning this month".
