The Macron-Trump bromance has a dark side, just like sausage-making

U.S. President Donald Trump has launched his latest salvo at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as the pair's disagreement over American tariffs on steel and aluminum intensifies.

Asked whether Trump did not care about "being isolated" from other world leaders, Macron responded, "Maybe, but nobody is forever".

The Trump administration has made reducing the deficit in goods trade with China and other nations one of its most important policy goals.

"It is simply ridiculous to view any trade with Canada as a national security threat to the US", Mr Trudeau has said of the move.

"The U.S. tariff on steel is affecting those workers today", said Scheer, who noted Canada's steel industry employs more than 23,000 workers and indirectly supports more than 100,000 jobs.

Trudeau was angered Trump utilized the rarely invoked "national security" provision to justify the tariffs, and in doing so was alluding that Canada was a threat to USA national security. Trump later said he "had no idea" whether the claim was true.

Leaders in Europe, Canada, and Mexico have vowed to retaliate against these tariffs with economic penalties against US exports, but so far Trump has been unmoved.

President Donald Trump's chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow is defending tough trade action on China and US allies, saying the world is not on a level playing field.

Police cars can be seen trailing the vehicle as it cruised down Broad Street, according to a bystander's video posted on Twitter . Virginia State Police pursued a stolen armored personnel carrier north on Interstate-95 from Dinwiddie County to Richmond.

Macron had previously attempted to strike a more conciliatory tone with Trump and was even dubbed the "Trump whisperer" by some in the media.

Kudlow also said he relayed Trump's message to a senior member of the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's office.

The United States is reportedly preparing to unleash another round of tariffs on Canada as retribution for its Can$16.6 billion (US$12.9 billion) in tariffs on U.S. goods.

"We have, on various occasions, heard the president speak about his interest or his musings about a bilateral deal instead of the trilateral NAFTA that we have", Trudeau told reporters before heading into a caucus meeting.

Still, Macron is undeterred and affirms his friendship with the famously temperamental USA president.

Trump is expected to attend the Group of Seven summit on Friday and Saturday with the leaders of the world's largest economies before flying to Singapore for a historic meeting with North Korean leaderKim Jong Un on June 12.

"Hog, apple, potato and dairy farmers are among those suddenly facing a 10 or 20 percent tax hike on the exports they depend of for their livelihoods", she said in a statement.
