Stolen armored military vehicle being pursued on Virginia freeway

Yabut, who is 29, was arrested in downtown Richmond Tuesday night after he drove the military vehicle 60 miles from Fort Pickett, near Blackstone, Virginia, to downtown Richmond.

Virginia State Police pursued a stolen armored personnel carrier north on Interstate-95 from Dinwiddie County to Richmond.

He later surrendered to police at East Broad and 11th streets in downtown Richmond.

Joshua Philip Yabut tweeted a Wikipedia entry Tuesday about the M113 armored personnel carrier, which is similar to the M577 vehicle driven away during a routine training exercise at Fort Pickett.

State police said the chases ended around 9.45pm local time (2.45am GMT).

Yabut was charged with with driving under the influence of drugs, felony eluding police, and felony unauthorized use of a vehicle. "Cotton" Puryear, disputed Yabut's claim and said the officer was not authorized to drive the carrier off Fort Pickett "to any location for any reason".

Police cars can be seen trailing the vehicle as it cruised down Broad Street, according to a bystander's video posted on Twitter. The vehicle wasn't equipped with any weapons, but Yabut had his personal weapon with him, apparently unloaded.

Leroy has a huge talent. "That was a very close decision between him and Julian Brandt , which was made in favor of Brandt". Sane has been left out of the final 23-man selection, however, with Julian Brandt and fit-again Marco Reus preferred.

The suspect drove the vehicle mainly on highways and reached speeds of about 45 miles per hour.

He is now being held at the City of Richmond Jail.

Virginia State Police Spokesperson Corrine Geller said in a statement: "No crashes or injuries occurred during the course or as a result of this incident".

The suspect that was driving the stolen armored vehicle has been apprehended. The Virginia Army National Guard is expected to release information late Wednesday about his military status.

In shocking scenes that mirror the video game, the huge vehicle was filmed as it rolled through Richmond, in the U.S. state of Virginia.

Despite initial reports that suggested the individual had surrendered to police willingly, the Associated Press has since reported that police officered used a dog and a taser to subdue the suspect after they exited the vehicle and began walking around.
