Paul George and Donovan Mitchell Will Play in Thunder-Jazz Game 2

Paul George and Donovan Mitchell Will Play in Thunder-Jazz Game 2

Will Utah's star rookie Donovan Mitchell be healthy enough to go? He played just 22 minutes, scoring nine points and reeling in seven rebounds. The Jazz got a big effort from Derrick Favors, who scored 20 points and collected 16 rebounds. The much-needed make was followed up by a bit of fortune, as Ricky Rubio (who made a surprising 5 three-pointers in the game) was called for an 8-second count bringing the ball up the court. Utah's rookie dynamo Donovan Mitchell drove in from the wing and was blocked by Westbrook at the rim, but Anthony was called for a phantom foul on the drive, which resulted in two free throws.

Favors was imposing, posting career playoff highs of 20 points and 16 rebounds and making it hard to picture this team without him as he enters free agency this summer. His 55 points are the most by a guard in his first two postseason contests in National Basketball Association history, passing Michael Jordan's 53 points in 1985, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

To say that all three players simply did not have it in this game would be to gravely undervalue the terrific defense by Utah. The Cavs got handled on Sunday in Game 1, but we expect them to be out for blood tonight.

"The entire game we could have executed better", Donovan said.

While both George and Mitchell are officially listed as questionable, George with a hip contusion and Mitchell with a left foot contusion, there's little doubt they will both play even after they were both limited in practice Tuesday. Overall, the trio scored a total of 54 points with no one among them getting 20 markers.

The Utah Jazz fell short in their first game of the 2018 NBA Playoffs as the fourth-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder led by Paul George and Russell Westbrook proved to be too much for Utah to handle. Would the home team ever win consecutive games, as never happened in the Jazz-Clippers series? Oklahoma City closed the quarter on a 21-9 run to take a 79-74 lead.

Oklahoma City had two chances in the final minute to trim Utah's lead with the Jazz leading 99-95, but Anthony missed 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions. She is known for her illustrations of Thunder players.

"I don't know", Anthony said. "I think if he was feeling something, he didn't show it, and he played through it". "We just didn't make shots in that fourth quarter".
