Chicago man accused of terroristic threats on Greyhound bus

Law officers chased down a Greyhound bus and arrested a passenger near the Wisconsin-Illinois border Friday night after reports surfaced of a gunman on board, authorities said.

Passenger Patrick Dodd, told the Chicago Tribune the incident in Wisconsin on Friday (local time) was sparked when the man who said he had a gun started to threaten passengers riding in the back of the bus.

Fifty people were on the bus, Greyhound said in a statement.

The man who police said caused chaos on a Greyhound bus heading to Chicago was denied bond in a court appearance Sunday morning.

Sheriff Christopher Schmaling said immigration authorities informed him Vargas-Rosas had been previously deported to Mexico. All lanes of I-94 were closed while several law enforcement agencies investigated the incident, WDJT reports, and the roadway was still closed as of 12:30 a.m.

The suspect was saying "he was gonna kill us, that he was going to put a bullet in our head", passenger Patrick Todd told CBS 2 in Chicago after the almost 40 passengers arrived at Union Station on another vehicle.

By the end of last week, they had advanced into Idlib, close to an insurgent-held military airport. It added that the rebels had used Turkish vehicles.

Deputies then ordered Vargas-Rosas out of the bus at gunpoint.

Schmaling said no weapon has yet been found, but the Racine County Sheriff's Office has seized the bus and plans to continue to search for a gun.

Vargas-Rosas was taken into custody.

Vargas-Rosas was taken into custody.

As far as the bus driver not pulling over with dozens of flashing lights and sirens behind him, Schmaling agreed that was a head-scratcher.

The threats were apparently made after an altercation with two passengers on the bus, according to Schmaling. Charges against him include making terroristic threats.
